Aserrín e Incienso

Each year for Holy Week, Antigua, Guatemala comes alive with all it's splendor. The carpets that families make and offer, are stepped on by the processions. The carpets are made by the local families. Each family offers something, or makes a wish by means of a hand-made sawdust rug. Some families have been doing it for over 100 years, each year making longer and more elaborate carpets than the year before. The carpets are stepped on by processions or orders of men and women that show different stages of Christ's life on long slabs followed by huge parades.
